Protein-Energy Nutritional Status of Moderately Low Protein Intake-Sago Diets Compared to Sufficiently Protein Intake-Rice Diets in Well-Nourished Lowlanders in Papua, Indonesia

چکیده

Background: Protein inadequacy is prevalent in developing countries because of the high consumption starchy staple foods. Sago, as a food Papua Province, was eaten with less protein. This study aimed to analyze nutritional status protein-energy well-nourished adults moderately low protein in-take (MLP)-sago group compared sufficient intake (SP)-rice group, lowland Mimika, Papua. Methods: cross-sectional-analytic conducted on 50 participants. Twenty-four-hour recall, body composition, albumin, and complete blood count were used assess status. Results: There no differences compositions albumin levels between MLP-sago SP-rice groups. Multivariate linear regression showed that mean corpuscular volume (MCV) (β = -0.524, P 0.007) predictive factor for sago while rice hemoglobin 0.354 0.089) white cell counts 0.396, P 0.059) factors. Conclusions: The groups exhibited visceral protein; however different predictors found be- tween groups, suggesting an adaptive mechanism maintain normal levels.

Protein leverage affects energy intake of high-protein diets in humans.

BACKGROUND The protein leverage hypothesis requires specific evidence that protein intake is regulated more strongly than energy intake. OBJECTIVE The objective was to determine ad libitum energy intake, body weight changes, and appetite profile in response to protein-to-carbohydrate + fat ratio over 12 consecutive days and in relation to age, sex, BMI, and type of protein. DESIGN A 12-d ra...

Excess energy intake promotes the development of hypoalbuminaemia in rats fed on low-protein diets.

1. A group of rats were given ad lib, a diet with a protein-energy: total energy (P:E) value of 0 . 03. Other animals received the same protein intake (g/kg body-weight per d) as this group, but had their energy consumption reduced to either 90, 80, 70, 60 or 50% of the ad lib. value. 2. The restricted growth rate of rats fed on the P:E--0 . 03 diet ad lib. has been shown to be due entirely to ...

Degradable Intake Protein In Finishing Diets Containing Dried Distillers Grains

Fifty-eight crossbred yearling heifers (BW = 383 ± 25 kg) were utilized in a completely randomized 2 x 2 factorial arrangement of treatments designed to evaluate the effects of finishing diets containing dried distiller's grains supplemented with degradable intake protein on feedlot performance and carcass characteristics. Dietary treatments contained 10 or 20% dried distiller's grains (DDG) re...

Correlation of dietary protein intake with body composition and physical status in patients with knee osteoarthritis

Background and Objectives: Little is known about the association between dietary protein intake and clinical manifestations in osteoarthritis (OA) patients. We aimed to determine the correlation between dietary protein intake and pain severity, functional status, and body composition indices in patients with knee OA. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 220 OA pat...
